Dear Friends and Supporters of Kenya Evangelical Mission:
I would like to write a personal note of introduction to you as recently I accepted the position of President of the U.S. Board of Directors for Kenya Evangelical Mission (KEM) and as a result of that appointment, Carol and I now serve as the U.S. Directors of KEM. We have been involved with the ministry of KEM for over 12 years now and we were introduced to the ministry by the former Directors Joe and Barbara Riley. We have a deep love and appreciation for the labor of love that the Riley’s poured into this ministry and we hope that we can live up to and build upon their outstanding efforts and achievements! Joe and Barbara have agreed to continue on as members at large and serve as our mentors and guides as we move forward.
Let me just give you a little background on our lives. Carol and I met a while attending Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and upon graduating in 1981 we went to work at Manor Baptist Church and Christian School in San Leandro California. From there we ministered/taught in the adult ministries department at Redwood Chapel Community Church in Castro Valley, CA and this is where we met the Riley’s who then introduced us to KEM. We currently reside in a little town north of Sacramento called Diamond Springs and have now taken on this task of overseeing the operations of KEM. If you would like to know a little more about us and our ministry, please visit http://mikesouthwick.googlepages.com.
Isn’t it truly amazing to see all that the Lord has done in and through the ministry of Kenya Evangelical Mission. I am not sure that Hoyt and Lois Osborne ever imagined this ministry would be where it is today. What lies before us however, is a ministry that is set to explode and grow to levels we cannot even comprehend but it will be exciting to see!
Please continue to pray for the ministries of Kenya Evangelical Mission and please continue in your financial support of this vital ministry that is dedicated to reaching the lost souls of Kenya. If you or your church family have a missions conference coming up and we can be a part of that, please contact us so we can make arrangements. Also, we would love the opportunity to come and share with your church, your Bible study group, or anyone who is interested in the exciting and new things that are happening in Kenya. Just call us or e-mail us so we can put that on our schedule.
I pray for the Lord’s blessing on all of you. Please read the attached update letter and join us on some of our update sites (On Google—Friends of Kenya), our blog , and on facebook (see groups and look up Friends of Kenya).
For the souls of Kenya,
Mike & Carol Southwick,
Directors of Kenya Evangelical Mission
